Whether you’re experiencing discomfort, changes in appearance, or a shift in how you feel about your breast implants, breast revision surgery can help restore both comfort and confidence. At Vegas Plastic Surgery Institute, we take a personalized approach to every revision, combining reconstructive expertise with aesthetic refinement to address your concerns with care, clarity, and precision.

Our board-certified plastic surgeons perform breast revision procedures for a wide range of reasons, from correcting asymmetry or capsular contracture to updating implant size or removing them entirely. No matter your motivation, we’re here to help you feel more at home in your body again.

What Breast Augmentation Revision Can Address

Breast revision surgery is highly personalized and can address a wide range of aesthetic or functional concerns, including:

  • Replacing old implants or switching to a different size or type
  • Removing implants altogether (with or without a lift)
  • Correcting breast asymmetry
  • Treating capsular contracture (scar tissue around implants)
  • Addressing implant rupture, rippling, or malposition
  • Improving results from previous breast surgery
  • Relieving discomfort related to implant fatigue or changes in lifestyle
  • Exploring options for concerns about Breast Implant Illness (BII)

Our goal is to create results that feel aligned with who you are today, not who you were when you first chose augmentation.

Why Choose VPSI?

Types of Breast Revision

Breast asymmetry can occur naturally or as a result of previous augmentation. When one breast appears noticeably larger, smaller, higher, or shaped differently than the other, it can affect your overall balance and confidence. Our plastic surgeons tailor your revision to restore symmetry using implant repositioning, implant replacement, fat grafting, or a breast lift, sometimes combining these approaches for the best results.

If you’re unhappy with the size, feel, or appearance of your current implants, or if they’ve changed over time, implant revision allows you to replace them with new ones. Whether you want to go smaller, switch implant types, address rippling, or simply update aging implants, our plastic surgeons will work with you to design a plan that aligns with your current goals and anatomy.

Capsular contracture occurs when scar tissue tightens around a breast implant, leading to discomfort, asymmetry, or changes in shape. At VPSI, we offer advanced capsular contracture treatment, using a capsulotomy, partial capsulectomy, or total capsulectomy to carefully remove the capsule and restore a more natural contour. If desired, new implants can be placed during the same procedure to complete your revision.

If your original implants didn’t deliver the volume you were hoping for, or if you had naturally underdeveloped breasts before surgery, micromastia correction can provide a more proportional and balanced look. Our plastic surgeons may use implants, fat transfer, or a combination of both to help you achieve fuller, more noticeable volume.

When breast implants shift too close together, it can result in a merged or “uniboob” appearance. Our approach to symmastia repair involves carefully redefining the space between the breasts, adjusting implant positioning, and reinforcing internal support to restore natural-looking breasts and contour.

Your Breast Revision Experience

No two breast revision surgeries are alike. Your doctor will design a plan based on your individual anatomy and goals, including implant replacement, removal, a lift, or fat grafting.

You’ll arrive at our Las Vegas surgical center on the day of your procedure. After anesthesia is administered, your doctor will make incisions based on the previous surgery and the planned revisions. Common steps may include removing scar tissue, repositioning or replacing implants, and reshaping the breast pocket.

If you’re having a lift or Resensation® performed during the same surgery, those steps will be incorporated seamlessly into your treatment.

Restoring Sensation with Resensation

For some patients, breast surgery can result in lingering numbness or reduced sensation. At VPSI, we offer Resensation, an advanced technique that uses a nerve allograft to help reconnect nerves and restore feeling to the breast and nipple area. When appropriate, your surgeon may recommend incorporating Resensation into your breast revision for a more complete and satisfying outcome. Breast Revision Recovery & Results

Most patients return to work and light activities within one to two weeks. You may experience temporary swelling, tightness, or discomfort, which we’ll help you manage with medication and recovery guidance.

Results will gradually reveal themselves as you heal, with full outcomes typically visible by three to six months post-op. Many patients find that revision offers a sense of closure and confidence, especially when previous surgeries left them feeling disappointed or uncomfortable.

Breast Revision FAQs

Not necessarily. Many patients seek revision simply because their goals or preferences have changed. You might want smaller implants, a different shape, or a more natural feel with fat grafting.

It’s normal for breast implants to take time to settle, a process often called “drop and fluff,” which can take several weeks to a few months. But if your results still feel off after that window, something more might be going on. It could be related to implant position, scar tissue formation, or changes in your natural tissue. At VPSI, our surgeons have extensive experience correcting complex cases and can work with you to identify what’s changed and how revision surgery might help you feel more confident again.

Yes. We can safely remove your implants and perform a breast lift or auto-augmentation to preserve shape and volume using your natural tissue.

It depends on the concern, but generally, we recommend waiting at least six months for full healing and to assess results. If you’re experiencing discomfort or complications, we can evaluate you sooner.

We regularly treat patients who have had several previous breast procedures. Our reconstructive training allows us to navigate complex revision cases and restore symmetry, softness, and comfort.

Resensation is ideal for patients experiencing numbness or sensory loss after implant surgery. We’ll discuss whether it’s a good fit for you during your consultation.
