Over time, aging, weight loss, children, and other factors can affect how breasts appear. Fortunately, a breast lift is a great choice to help you achieve your aesthetic goals and improve your curves, no matter your life stage.
Taking the First Steps
The first step to breast lift surgery is an initial consultation with one of our doctors. During your first meeting, your surgeon will take down your history, perform a physical exam, and ask questions regarding your concerns and desired outcome. With this information, they can provide recommendations and create a personalized surgical plan to suit your needs.
After your consultation, you should feel more confident and knowledgeable about the procedure and better understand your surgical needs and expectations.

The Breast Lift Process Explained
Your experience with breast lift surgery is unique to you and your needs. However, in general, breast lift surgery follows a specific process.
Your doctor begins by administering anesthesia before the surgery to make the procedure more comfortable.
Once your surgeon is ready, they will start by making the incision. For breast lift procedures, there are three common incisions:
- Vertically down from the areola to the natural breast crease, then along the breast crease
- Along the creases of the breasts in a horizontal line
- Around the areola
Your surgeon can determine the right incision type for you before your procedure.
After your doctor makes the incision, they will lift and reshape the breast. This process can include removing excess breast tissue, repositioning the nipple and areola, and reshaping the remaining breast tissue.
Once your doctor is content with the outcome, they will tighten the skin and close the incisions. Sutures, surgical tape, and/or skin adhesives can help close the skin and support the newly shaped breasts.

Recovery and Aftercare
After breast lift surgery, you may be sore and experience some discomfort. You will likely want to rest on the day of your surgery, as you may feel fatigued.
To promote healing after breast lift surgery, you can wear a supportive bra in the weeks following your procedure. The bra supports your healing breasts and helps minimize swelling.
You should avoid strenuous activity for two to three weeks after surgery. You may begin engaging in more regular activity at four to six weeks with modified exercise.
The first few weeks after your procedure, you should sleep on your back and elevate a bit. Sleeping at an elevation can avoid fluid buildup and swelling.
Your surgeon can provide post-surgical aftercare instructions. Following these guidelines can help ensure your incisions heal properly and you achieve optimal results.
