Am I a Good Candidate for Labiaplasty?
If you are looking to improve the appearance of your vagina or resolve discomfort caused by excess vaginal tissue, you may be a candidate for labiaplasty.
Labiaplasty Is Great If You
Labiaplasty procedures yield the best results when performed for certain patients. Some of the factors that make an ideal labiaplasty candidate include:
- Have good overall health
- Hold realistic expectations
- Desire to change the size or shape of your labia
- Experience discomfort during intercourse, exercise, or wearing certain clothing
Sagging or excess labial tissue can cause everything from self-consciousness to physical discomfort. If you find yourself experiencing these feelings due to the structure of your labia, you may be a candidate for labiaplasty at Vegas Plastic Surgery Institute.
How Old Do I Have to Be?
If you are 18 or older and looking to improve the appearance of your vagina or resolve discomfort caused by excess vaginal tissue, labiaplasty may be an option. Labiaplasty is a popular procedure for both older and younger clients alike.
Taking the First Steps
The first step in the labiaplasty process is scheduling your consultation. The purpose of this appointment is to confirm that labiaplasty is the right treatment option for you.
During your consultation, your surgeon will discuss your concerns and desired outcome. They will also review the procedure and answer any questions you may have.
If you are a good candidate for labiaplasty surgery, you can schedule your procedure and begin the pre-operative process.

The Labiaplasty Process Explained
About two to four weeks before your labiaplasty, you will need medical clearance from a regular physician to confirm that you are healthy enough to have this surgery. Once cleared, your doctor will administer general anesthesia for your comfort. Your plastic surgeon will then remove any excess labial tissue to create a more youthful, firm appearance. This process will involve removing and resecting any sagging tissue surrounding the vaginal opening. Depending on your unique needs, the process can take anywhere from one to three hours.
Recovery and Aftercare
Once you are awake and can stand, our team will discharge you to return home or a nearby hotel. In the days following your surgery, you may experience numbness, tingling, bruising, and swelling of the vaginal tissue, and these symptoms should subside within the first week.
You will need to avoid sitting directly on your labial tissue for two weeks after surgery, as this puts too much pressure on the surgical site. It is essential to avoid rigorous exercise and sexual activity for at least one month after surgery. Before leaving, you will receive detailed aftercare instructions, including information on how to cleanse the labial tissue and care for incisions.
Other Considerations
Can Labiaplasty Be Performed in Combination with Other Procedures?
Labiaplasty can be combined with other plastic surgery procedures to achieve multiple cosmetic goals at one time.
Popular procedures include breast augmentation, tummy tuck, breast revision, and mommy makeovers. Performing these procedures at once may reduce your recovery time and procedural costs.
Are There Any Risks Involved?
As with any surgical procedure, there are certain risks involved. Your surgeon will discuss these minor risks during your initial consultation. Our surgeons are highly skilled and bring years of specialized knowledge to every procedure, leading to minimal risk and great surgical outcomes.
How Long Do the Results Last?
Labiaplasty permanently removes excess or sagging labial tissue and creates a more firm and youthful appearance. With that said, age-related changes within the skin can cause sagging to re-occur years after your procedure. This change is usually insignificant; most patients will see permanent results from their labiaplasty surgery.
